Well, That was Interesting

Last night we had a rather productive and entertaining (for me at least) night of snatching. Like I promised last night, you’ll notice off to the right there that today’s workout is going to involve some snatches. I know at least a couple of you are going to spend the day looking up snatch videos (be VERY careful how you search for those) in preparation for today’s workout. Go back to yesterday’s post and watch that Chad Vaughn video again, ’cause there is so much information there to process. If you go looking for other videos, look for people who look like they’re at the Olympics rather than people who are in their parent’s basement.

Tonight you might want to pack a dinner and come to the 6:30PM workout instead of the 5:30. Why’s that? Because tonight at 8:00 PM is the live announcement of the first workout in the 2014 CrossFit Open. This announcement isn’t just someone standing in front of a camera shouting “THIRTY MINUTES OF BURPEES!” and dropping a microphone. Instead, HQ makes an event out of it, having a couple of the top names in the CrossFit world do the workout head-to-head at a gym somewhere in the world right after the WOD is announced. So you get to see a couple of bad asses do a workout that you’re going to be doing a version of on Friday and you get to get caught up in the hoopla.

To help you get caught up in the hoopla, we’re going to have a little viewing party here at the gym. Barb is the one who organizes things and I just thought of this right before the 5:30 WOD last night, so you’ll want to bring your own food and drinks to this ’cause God knows I can’t pull these things together. Since this is completely last minute, I’d say bring food for yourself rather than potluck-style. If you guys dig it this week, we’ll make it a little more formal next week. I’ll bring in the TV and laptop from home so we can watch it all from the couches and we can have a good ol’ CrossFit Zenith time.

So gather up some dinner, bring it with you to the 6:30 workout and stick around for the entertainment!
