Happy New Year!

Reminder: No classes today, no 6:00 AM class on Thursday!

Next year we’ll have a great little retrospective post, but this year it’s just about thanks and what to expect in the upcoming months. Especially since this year has been a little bit overwhelming.

CrossFit Zenith started brewing in our brains back in February or so, and slowly through the year started coming together and developing a life of its own. You folks are a big part of that life, because you’re who we opened this gym for. We’ve had a great two and a half months so far, and the next twelve are going to be spectacular. Thank you for being there for us, giving us a reason to keep pushing through all the little trials and occasional long dark teatimes of the soul. I don’t know which I’m more excited about: to see where the gym is twelve months from now or to see how much better all of your lives have gotten twelve months from now.

We have a lot of things on the docket to help you out in this brand new year. We’re currently putting together our first paleo challenge, which means it’s time to start looking at that nutrition piece of the puzzle. To help you out, we’re going to have a couple of pre-challenge meetings. For one of them, we’ll be bringing in Theresa Garceau of Cross Cuisines to talk about what exactly paleo is and get you a good base of knowledge to start the challenge. The other will be a general nutrition/diet/lifestyle discussion led by me, which will take a more broad overview of how to attack both the challenge and your nutrition for the long haul. Keep an eye out for more details soon.

Since I like to yammer on in front of groups, I’ll also be holding a little goal-setting meeting as well. I guess “seminar” would be an appropriate word, but it sounds too much like we’re renting a conference room at the Hilton. Whatever it’s called, it’ll be me talking about setting goals: how to properly set them, how to keep them and how to be successful with them. More details to come on that as well.

Next, you’ll be seeing a couple of new deals for CrossFit Zenith making their way around the social media circles. These deals are for new members, so once the links are up, be sure to tell all of your friends and family! We know exercising more and getting fit are big resolutions for people around this time of year, so we’re doing a little to help get people in motion. We’re offering two different packages, each of which are only valid from 1/1/14 through 1/31/14.

  • Get your first two months of membership at 20% off or
  • After three months at the regular price, get a free one-month gift certificate which can be used by either you or a friend.

Again, we’ll have more details on that later (look for a link popping up in Facebook on New Year’s Day), so keep an eye out.

Last, there’s an even bigger announcement to make: Mark Gáncsos has accepted a position with CrossFit Zenith as our new Director of Community Outreach!

Mark will be attacking leads like he attacks big tires. Only with a phone instead of a sledgehammer. And a polite inside voice instead of grunts and growls. And at least a third less sweat. Actually, this might not be the best analogy.

Over the past three months, Mark has given us tons of great ideas for getting people in the door and for doing things for our community. Between Barb’s regular job and the day-to-day work that keeps a gym running, neither of us have been able to capitalize on most of the great things he’s come up with. Now we’re giving him free reign to get our name out there and start rattling some cages. If you have great ideas of your own or contacts deep within some shadowy organization that we want to bring in as clients, feel free to shoot him an email at mark@crossfitzenith.com.

I think that’s it for the big updates, so have a happy and safe New Year’s and we’ll see you at the gym on Thursday!
