CrossFit Zenith’s First Year

By October 14, 2014 wod No Comments

Fourteen months ago, we had our first workout at CrossFit Zenith: signing lease papers for time. The next two months were filled with all kinds of functional fitness. Cleaning, demolishing, cleaning, painting, building, cleaning, painting, laying down mats, putting together equipment. We were almost AMRAP’ed out before we even got the doors open. But open the doors we did, and the people have been walking in ever since.

This has been a year of ups and downs, like a first year for any business. But unlike most businesses, it’s not just a company or store we’re building here. It’s a family. Over the past year, that family has had some changes, with members getting pulled in different directions by fate and circumstance, but we’ve continued to grow, person by person.

I’m immeasurably proud of all that everyone has been able to accomplish within these walls so far and can’t wait to see what you guys do next. You’re all making big changes in here every day, but what truly makes me overjoyed is how those changes are then translating to your lives out in the real world.

I was originally going to write more, but then I realized I need to post some old pictures and got lost in the nostalgia. So rather than prattle on like I usually do, enjoy a few Before pictures of the gym.

Happy first birthday, CrossFit Zenith. Time to charge into year two with guns a blazin’. 3. 2. 1…. Go.

In that top photo, that's the sawdust it took to build one box. Between those and the PVC pipe, there were drifts of multi-colored dust all over the place.
